Jonathan Safran Foer Webinar

Today, October 28, 2014, we had a webinar meeting with the famous author Jonathan Safran Foer.  Foer has written many novels including Tree of Codes, Everything is Illuminated, and Joe.  The webinar we had today with Foer he talked about his most recent work, Eating Animals.  I believe Jonathan Safran Foer's Webinar was educational, persuasive, and intriguing.
I believe this webinar was educational. This webinar was educational because I learned various new things for example, I learned that eating dogs is legal in forty-four states in the United States.  Not only did I just learn that, but I also learned that eating meat has negative effects on our bodies. A stand out moment from the video that I thought was educational was the fact that all the farmers he met said the same thing, "If there was something I would not eat it would be hot-dogs."  I chose this standout moment because I feel like that says a lot about the type of meat being used to make the hot-dogs.
In addition, I believe the webinar was persuasive because Foer was giving his outlook on the topic.  "Thinking about dogs, and their relationships to the animals we eat, is one way of looking askance and making something invisible visible."  Thus, Foer kept mentioning dogs to try to persuade us that eating animals is not okay. All animals are equal but society has morphed that truth.  Another standout moment from the video was the fact that Foer has beliefs but doesn't care if people choose to be ignorant and eat meat.  This stood out to me because it shows a lot about Foer's personality.
Lastly, I found the webinar to be intriguing due to the fact that like Foer said, "Meat is murder." I find this quote to be indeed correct, we are murdering animals in such cruel ways. Again like Foer mentioned animals aren't able to roam anymore, they are kept in crammed cages where they cant even move. In addition, a standout moment in the video was when Colbert got bacon out and started eating it in front of Foer.  Foer didn't care because Colbert was aware of what he was eating.
I believe this presentation relates to my personal life because like Foer I have always believed something should be done to change peoples perspective on eating meat.  I personally have been a vegetarian because I thought it was the only thing I could do to at least contribute to the cause.  I was only a vegetarian for four months but now that this topic has rose to my conscience again I think I'm going to react on it again.
